Application Deadlines
- Fall semester applications open May 1 through June 30
- Spring semester applications open September 1 through October 31
- Summer semester applications open January 31 through March 31
(Priority for summer internships are given to law school students.)
How to Apply
Interested applicants should submit the following:
- Resume
- Semester of interest (Fall, Spring, or Summer)
- Area of interest
- Email your application to PublicDefender@brazoscountytx.gov
Once the deadline passes, we will contact you to schedule an interview.
Interest Examples
Interns will gain experience in multiple areas but can indicate their primary interest in one of the following areas:
- Aspiring Attorney – Work alongside experienced defense attorneys, assist with case research, and observe court proceedings.
- Paralegal – Draft legal documents, manage case files, and assist with trial preparation.
- Investigator – Conduct case investigations, gather evidence, and interview witnesses.
- Case Worker – Assist clients with accessing social services, coordinating case-related needs, and providing holistic support.
- Office Manager – Help with administrative tasks, maintain office operations, and support case workflow.
Interns will be exposed to various aspects of the office, but we strive to align assignments with individual interests whenever possible.
