Commissioner: Precinct 3

Commissioner Brown is experienced in parliamentary procedure and working with those who may not agree with his views to reach consensus and accomplish goals. He is widely respected among members of the Texas House and Senate, the lobby, and the education community as a knowledgeable, passionate champion of education issues.

During his time in the Texas House of Representatives, he served on the House Appropriations Committee, the House Higher Education Committee, the Budget and Oversight Committee, and the House Health and Human Services Oversight Committee. Among his many accomplishments in the House, he is especially proud that he authored and passed legislation and a constitutional amendment freezing property values of homesteads for seniors and the disabled.

Many people in the Brazos Valley know the name Fred Brown from his days as co-owner and president of Fred Brown Mazda, BMW and Volkswagen from 1982-2001. His volunteer service is equally notable, serving on the boards of directors for the Salvation Army, Brazos Valley Food Bank, Texas A&M Business Management School, and Texas A&M International Business School, as well as chairman of the Brazos County Health Department, president of the Bryan-College Station Better Business Bureau, and chairman of the Brazos County Business Job Training Alliance. 

Brown attended Texas A&M University.  He and his wife, Jane, enjoy spending time with their two grown daughters, Kelly and Hayley, and their beloved grandchildren.
