Filing Requirements
In order to file a document into the County’s official records, the Brazos County Clerk’s Office requires:
- An original document (no copies)
- Original signatures
- A notary / notary seal
Photo ID
Senate Bill 16, 89th Legislative 2nd session (2025) amends Section 191.010 (b), Local Government Code:
“A county clerk shall require a person presenting a document in person for filing in the real property records of the county to present a photo identification to the clerk. The clerk shall copy the photo identification or record information from the photo identification.”

Little Known Fact: There are no filing fees for DD214 (military discharge) filings.
Fees and Forms
- $25 fee for the first page and $4 fee for each page thereafter
- $0.25 fee per additional Grantor/Grantee name after five names
- Plats: $72
- License to Sell Alcohol: $5 per signature
- Certified copy: $1 per page plus $5 for certification
- Plain copy: $1 per page
- $25 fee for the first page and $4 fee for each page thereafter
- $25 fee for the first page and $4 fee for each page thereafter
- Registration of Cattle Brand: $25 per brand plus $5 for each additional location
- $500 attorney ad litem retainer fee for each Guardianship or Application to Determine Heirship case filed. Please contact the Probate Department for instructions on how to pay this fee.
- $360 current fee for opening a new probate case as Letters Testamentary, Muniment of Title, Administration or Guardianship.

- Civil Cases of $500 or less: $350.00
- Civil Condemnation: $350
- Traffic Appeals: Fees are accessed by the County Court at Law Judge
