Requirements
- A couple must appear in person in the Brazos County Clerk’s Office.
- A couple must have proper identification. Acceptable forms of identification include a valid drivers license, state issued ID, or passport.
- A couple must provide each person’s Social Security number (if applicable.)
- If one or both of the couple is divorced, they must have been divorced at least 31 days before obtaining another marriage license
- Once the marriage license is purchased, a couple must wait at least 72 hours before getting married, but not longer than 90 days from the day the license was purchased. (Unused marriage licenses become void 90 days after the date of purchase.)

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Healthy Marriage Program provides voluntary marriage and relationship education skills. Visit the “Twogether in Texas” website to see how you can get a $60 discount on your marriage license by completing a pre-marital education class.
Applicants Under Age 18: If one or both of the couple is under 18 years of age, please contact the County Clerk’s Office.

You can purchase your license via cash or credit card payment. Checks are not accepted.
