Responsibilities & Services
The county clerk's office has been in existence in Texas since 1836 as set out in Section 20, Article 5 of the Texas Constitution.
The county clerk's duties, prerequisites and fees of office shall be prescribed by legislation. The county clerk's office is the record keeper of the county, which include:
- Birth certificates
- Brand registrations
- DD214s (military discharges)
- Death certificates
- Marriage licenses
- Probate and civil filings
- Real estate property records
