Employee Spotlight

[ARCHIVED] Valerie Butler

Ms. Valerie Butler was chosen as the Brazos County Juvenile Services "Employee of the Month" for December, 2008. Valerie is a Juvenile Probation Officer assigned to our After-Care Unit. As such, Valerie supervises probationers during their transition from residential placement back into the community.

Valerie is also the Vice President of our "Employee Action Committee" (EAC) which, among other things, is charged with the duty of planning and managing the annual staff awards banquet. This year the event was held at the Elks Lodge and Ms. Butler, along with all the members of the EAC did an outstanding job of coordinating and managing this huge event.

Valerie is a woman of strong moral conviction and is extremely dedicated to her job. She is always willing to assist her peers in any way needed. She is friendly, polite, and courteous. Valerie is intelligent and does a wonderful job of connecting with the children she supervises. Thanks Valerie for a job very well done!!

Merits: Valerie has been praised on several occasions by both peers and supervisors for her dedication and work ethic. Of great note, Valerie was selected as Brazos County Juvenile Services "Rookie of the Year" for the year 2008.

Bio: Valerie attended Brethren Christian High School in Hunting Beach, California. She earned her Bachelors Degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, and she earned her Master of Social Work Degree from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta Georgia. Before joining Brazos County Juvenile Services in May, 2008, Valerie worked as a Senior Social Worker for the Orange County Social Service Agency located in Cypress California. Valerie also previously worked as a Therapist for the Parenting Institute located in Los Angeles, California.
