Making the Commitment to Walk Across Texas!

Brazos County, TX – We’re a month into the new year.  Many who started January with great resolutions to get fit and lose weight have since lost their resolve and have reverted back to old habits.  Fortunately, there’s a great program designed to help establish new, healthy habits, using a little Lone Star encouragement to spur you on.

Walk Across Texas! started back in 1996 as a way of encouraging participants to try to walk the 833 miles across the Lone Star State.  While this may sound like a daunting task on your own, Walk Across Texas! is for teams of up to eight members and takes place over eight weeks, so you’re not solely responsible for all 833 miles.

This year’s Brazos County WAT! kicks off at Post Oak Mall on Saturday, February 9 from 10am – 11am.  The Walk itself runs from February 9 – April 5, and registration is open until February 12 at https://howdyhealth.org/.

Winners will be announced on April 17 on KBTX Media’s Brazos Valley This Morning.

For more information, contact the Brazos County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension at 979-823-0129 or brazos.agrilife.org.
