Throughout her career, Kara has prosecuted a wide range of felony offenses, developing particular expertise in complex crimes against children, sexual offenses, and cases involving vulnerable victims. Her extensive courtroom experience includes the prosecution of difficult and sensitive cases involving child sexual abuse, child abuse, human trafficking, and other crimes against vulnerable populations. Her work extends beyond the courtroom through her involvement with multidisciplinary teams addressing child abuse, sexual assault, child abduction, and human trafficking.

Kara is a published author and recognized educator in the area of child sexual abuse and the prosecution of cases involving child victims. Her scholarship and professional work reflect her commitment to advancing effective investigative and prosecutorial practices and improving the criminal justice system’s response to children who have experienced abuse.

A sought-after instructor and presenter, Kara regularly provides training to prosecutors, law enforcement officers, victim-service professionals, and community organizations. She has presented at conferences and specialized trainings throughout Texas on topics including child sexual abuse, working with child victims, victim recantation, jury selection, human trafficking, corroboration of child abuse, pretrial issues, and lessons learned from complex prosecutions. She also regularly provides specialized training to police cadets and to volunteers, staff, and professionals at Scotty’s House Children’s Advocacy Center.

Kara’s experience is grounded in more than two decades of prosecuting cases at the trial-court level. Her combination of extensive courtroom experience, specialized knowledge of crimes against children, multidisciplinary collaboration, and commitment to continuing education has made her a respected resource for prosecutors and other professionals working to protect vulnerable victims and hold offenders accountable.

Kara earned her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 2002, with a concentration in Criminal Practice, and her Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas A&M University in 1999. She brings to her career more than two decades of courtroom experience, a passion for effective prosecution, and a steadfast commitment to ensuring that victims’ voices are heard and that cases involving vulnerable victims are prosecuted with skill, compassion, and integrity.

In addition to her courtroom responsibilities, she has played a key role in developing multidisciplinary responses to violent crime, including participation on high-risk domestic violence teams, sexual assault response teams, and child abuse multidisciplinary teams. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Sexual Assault Resource Center and has been an instructor at the TEEX Central Texas Police Academy, training law enforcement on family violence and sexual assault.

Jessica is a recognized statewide leader in the prosecution of violent crimes against women and has presented extensively at conferences and trainings across Texas and the nation. She has authored multiple publications for the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District and County Attorneys Association, focusing on trial strategy and victim-centered prosecution.

Her work has earned her notable honors, including the Visionary Voice Award from the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and the Margaret Lalk Victim Advocacy Award.

Jessica graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law and brings a victim-centered, practical approach to prosecution.

For over three years, Kevin worked in private practice as a defense attorney representing clients in felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile criminal cases. In private practice Kevin also handled CPS matters in Milam County on behalf of both children and parents, and provided legal counsel to Scotty’s House regarding the protection of records subject to subpoena.

Kevin returned to the District Attorney’s Office in April 2020 serving as Chief of the Intake Division from January 2021 to January 2024. As a prosecutor Kevin has handled criminal cases of all types including juvenile cases, white-collar crimes, bond and asset forfeiture, drug court, family violence, and special prosecutions in Milam County. Capps earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio in May 2008 and is a graduate of A&M Consolidated High School.

Prior to his appellate work, he was a trial attorney prosecuting felony cases in Brazos County’s three District Courts. He has served as First Assistant District Attorney under former District Attorney Bill Turner.

He is a past president of the Brazos County Bar Association (2010) and a recipient of the Margaret Lalk Advocacy Award (2015).

In 2015, she became the first dedicated Adult Sex Crimes prosecutor in Harris County through a VAWA grant and was previously assigned to the Appellate Division of the HCDAO, where she was the designated legal expert on sex crimes and child fatality.

Tiffany works closely with local law enforcement, forensic laboratories, medical professionals, and social workers to assist survivors in seeking and obtaining justice. Tiffany has developed and presented multiple trainings on adult sex crimes and child sexual abuse, including trainings on DNA testing and presentation at trial.

Tiffany has served and continues to serve on several interagency task forces, including the Brazos County Sexual Assault Response Team, the OAG Texas Evidence Collection Protocol Advisory Board, and the Prosecutor Working Group for the Sexual Assault Survivor’s Task Force (SASTF) through the Office of the Governor.

Before joining the office, Caleb was a prosecutor in Tarrant County, Texas, where he was assigned to various teams, including the juvenile division. He has also worked as a civil litigator for a respected law firm in Fort Worth.

Caleb’s experiences in both criminal and civil law help him navigate juvenile law, which is a combination of those practice areas.

Caleb graduated with highest honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Prior to law school, Caleb served as a pastor for nine years in DFW, working with young people. He is passionate about protecting young people though prosecution.

Brian has served as a Trial Court Chief, supervising other trial attorneys, investigators, and Legal Assistants. Brian has tried hundreds of felonies cases, including: Capital Murder, Murder, Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Driving While Intoxicated, and Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.

In addition, he has provided training to other prosecutors and law enforcement officers across the State of Texas on topics of Constitutional Law, Search Warrants, Warrantless Arrest, Warrantless Search, Confessions, Courtroom Testimony, Intermediate Crime Scene, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, and Traffic Stops.

Eric’s work encompasses the application of the Texas Family Code, evidentiary and procedural requirements in CPS proceedings, and the litigation of cases focused on the safety and best interests of children.

Eric earned his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1999 and has practiced law in Texas since that time. He has served as a prosecutor since 2001, handling a broad range of felony offenses as well as juvenile cases before devoting a substantial portion of his career to child welfare and CPS litigation.

His experience provides a practical perspective on legal standards, trial strategy, evidentiary issues, and courtroom considerations that arise in Texas criminal and child welfare proceedings.
