Overview

The tax office provides vehicle registration and title transaction services for Brazos County residents as an agent for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

NOTICE:  WAIVER OF PENALTY FOR LATE VEHICLE REGISTRATION IS APRIL 14, 2021

The temporary waiver granting the suspension of registration renewal requirements ends April 14, 2021  Motorists must come into compliance by renewing their registration on or before April 14, 2021.  A table  for timeframes to register on or before the deadline can be found HERE.

Various permits and disabled parking placards are also issued. Specific information on registration fees, vehicle sales tax, address changes, and motor vehicle forms can be obtained from the DMV's website. Residents can submit address changes, request renewal, notices and register their vehicle online on this website as well.

Renew at New Locations

Brazos County residents can now renew their vehicle registration at their local HEB and Kroger Grocery locations. The vehicle renewal form and current liability insurance information should be presented at the customer service center. To use this service the vehicle registration cannot be expired more than 5 days, and the vehicle must have a current inspection.

Registration contractors do not have license plate inventory. If you require new license plates, you will need to register your vehicle at the Tax Office location.
