Responsibilities & Services
The Brazos County Attorney's Office is dedicated to providing professional and efficient legal service to the citizens of Brazos County through the different divisions of the office. The Criminal Division works with the various law enforcement agencies in the county to prosecute misdemeanor criminal cases in the County Courts-at-Law, Magistrate's Court, and Justice of the Peace Courts in Brazos County.
We place the utmost importance on the prosecution of criminal offenders, protection of the citizens of Brazos County, assistance to crime victims, collection of restitution, and justice for all persons involved in the criminal justice system.
Department Divisions
- Our Civil Division provides legal representation to the commissioner's court, department heads, and county employees in the discharge of their official duties.
- The Family Violence Unit provides assistance to victims of domestic violence by seeking Protective Orders through the courts at no cost to the victims.
- The Hot Check Division assists merchants and other persons victimized by individuals who write and pass bad checks for the purpose of obtaining goods or services. We seek to collect these worthless checks and fees for victims to compensate them for their loss at no cost to the victim. We also vigorously prosecute offenders in an effort to deter their future issuance of bad checks.
Location
Our offices are located on the first floor of the Brazos County Courthouse with office hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
