Mental and Psychological Health Services Unit
Brazos County Juvenile Services provides thorough psychological assessments for youth as requested by the juvenile court system and the juvenile probation department. This department is managed by the Deputy Director of Psychological / Health Services, which is a Ph.D. level, licensed and certified Psychologist.

In addition, the department employs its own licensed master's level counselors and licensed sex offender treatment provider and licensed chemical dependency dounselor who conducts many of the psychological assessments. Other assessments may be referred-out to clinicians in the community on an as-needed basis.

Based on referrals and assessments, youth may receive individual and/or group counseling for substance abuse, anger management, and sex offender therapy.

Counseling Services

The Brazos County Juvenile Services Center offers a comprehensive counseling services program for youth and their families referred to Juvenile Services.

Crisis intervention, individual, family, and group therapy is offered to youth ages 10 -18 and their families.

Mental health screening, crisis intervention and referral are provided to all youth during the intake process and as needed throughout their stay at the Juvenile Detention Center.

All services are free of charge.
