Civil Division
Overview
The Civil Division has the responsibility of serving all civil processes issued through the offices of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, as well as other courts.

The civil processes include but are not limited to:
  • Citations
  • Evictions
  • Notices
  • Restraining orders
  • Subpoenas
  • Writs

Civil Stand By
A civil stand by is also a service that the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office provides. A civil stand by is a situation where the officer stands by to keep the peace in a situation involving a civil dispute, not a violation of the law. The officer is a neutral party.

A Civil Stand By is done only when officers are available.

Bailiff Duties
The Civil Division also has bailiff duties which include: maintain order and security in the courts, maintain prisoners in holding cells, taking persons in custody when needed, and transporting prisoners.

The Brazos County Constable’s Office currently has bailiff duties for 4 Courts: Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Attorney General’s Child Support Division, Juvenile and Child Protection..
