Truant Conduct/Parent Contributing

It is a Third Degree Felony to make a false statement under oath in connection with an official proceeding (Texas Penal code 37.02), punishable by imprisonment for 2 to 10 years plus a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Sec. 65.002. DEFINITIONS

(1) "Child" means a person who is 12 years of age or older and younger than 19 years of age.

Sec. 65.0023 TRUANT CONDUCT 

(a) A child engages in Truant Conduct if the child is required to attend school under Section 28.085, EDUCATION CODE, and fails to attend school on 10 or more days or parts of the days within a six-month period in the same school year.
